Tapanappa Foggy Hill Pinot Noir 2008
This is the second exciting wine from the new Pinot Noir terroir at Maylands Farm at Parawa on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia.
The climate statistics, slope, geology and soil features of the farm quickly convinced Brian Croser that the site provided a unique opportunity to grow the fastidious Pinot Noir variety. The maritime climate of Foggy Hill has very cool days and relatively warm nights, which allows the vines to produce intense and fragrant aromas and flavours at moderate alcohol levels. The climate is the coolest in South Australia, and is cooler than Burgundy.
The 2008 Foggy HIll Vineyard Pinot Noir is a medium coloured wine, featuring aromas of preserved black cherries, mulled wine spices and mulberries. The rich, spicy flavours are balanced by soft savoury tannins and acids culminating in a beautifully structured wine.
