Tapanappa Wrattonbully Shiraz 2007
Brian Croser has been an innovator in the Australian wine industry for 40 years now. His latest venture is Tapanappa; named after a 550 million year old geological formation that underlies the Fleurieu Peninsula.
'Tapanappa' is a continuation of Brian's mission of selecting distinguished
sites, matching the climate, soil and geology of the site to the right
varieties, and fastidiously managing the vineyard to maximise quality.
The 2007 Shiraz fruit was sourced from the Hooper Vineyard, and has the
special terra rossa soil and climate derived flavours of the Wrattonbully
region. The core fruit is blackberry and liquorice with the earthy and
eucalypt smoke nuances of the Wrattonbully terroir.
The wine is not heavy or alcoholic but is elegant, dry and savoury and is defined by significant but fine-grained tannins. According to Brian, it is "a true expression of a unique Australian terroir."
We loved it so much we bought the rest of Croser's limited stock! Mention this review and purchase any number of bottles at $45.00 - this is even better than case rate pricing!
