Dezzani Barolo 2006 DOCG
Along with the recently reviewed Barbaresco, the 2006 Barolo is another fantastic wine in Phil's 'Viva Italia' line up.
Another Piedmontese wine, the 2006 Barolo is made from the three most commonly used Nebbiolo clones; Michel, Lampi and Rose Nebbiolo. Barolo DOCG requires 1 year in oak and 3 years total aging for normale bottlings and 57 months total aging for riserva. The time on oak enriches the initial exuberance and adds to its perfume. On the nose the 2006 Dezzani Barolo shows hints of violet, rose and spice. The wine is garnet red and the palate is dry, full, austere and velvety. This wine will pair well with game or any roasted meats.
