Duca Di Saragnano Chianti Riserva 2007 & Duca Di Saragnano Chianti 2009

This week we're unveiling two more of Phil's brand new Italian imports:

Duca Di Saragnano Chianti Riserva 2007

This superb Riserva comes from the Barbanera family's estate, on the slopes surrounding the town of Montepulciano, close to historic Siena in Tuscany. The family has been producing wine since the middle ages.

Appellation: Chianti Riserva DOCG

Grape Varieties: Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo. Canaiolo is one of the permitted ingredients and most comonly found in Chianti. It is typically used as a softening component. Ciliegiolo is a soft blending partner named after its suppposed cherry like flavor.

Vinification: Cold maceration, 18 moths in steel vats followed by 6 months in barrels and 3 months in the bottle before release.

Aromas & Flavors: A hue of warm garnet red, tending towards brick. Ripe red fruit with a delicate and heavenly bouquet of stewed berries. The palate is full, harmonious and velvety with dark fruits, notes of tobacco and balanced acididty.

Armadale Cellars Price: $29.99 - This represents outstanding value!

Duca Di Saragnano Chianti 2009

A full-bodied Chianti - fruity and with the taste of cherries, and with a smooth finish. Sangiovese brings juicy black cherry flavors. Ciliegiolo adds spicy notes. Canaiolo adds fine structure.
Colour: intense ruby red, with purplish tones
Bouquet: fruity; vinous with hints of mammola
Taste: harmonious, dry, with hints of tannin

Armadale Cellars Price: $24.99 - This represents outstanding value!

e-newsletter special: Purchase six mided or straight of either of these two Chianti wines and receive a free bottle of the 2009 Chianti!
