Lawsons Dry Hills 2009 Gewürztraminer as featured in Epicure
Ralph Kyte-Powell wrote in last week's Epicure that Gewürztraminer is more popular in New Zealand than here and quality is generally better. Regardless of whether you agree with this statement or not, we believe that this wine is certainly worth noting. Kyte-Powell rated the 2009 Lawson's Dry Hills Gewurztraminer four stars and believes it to be an improvement on the 2008 vintage due to the lower alcohol levels and better balance attained in the 2009 season. He describes it as displaying musky pot-pourri, pungent spice, sweet citrus and lychee-like varietal qualities, concentrated and unctuous, and enriched by a dab of sweetness mid-palate.
