There are many things Alsace does not have: a world renowned football team, a surf beach with 'killer breaks', and growing conditions suitable for most red wine grapes.
What Alsace does have are Michelin star restaurants in greater density than anywhere else in the world, incredibly beautiful German-influenced architecture set against vineyards and mountain ranges, and some of the world's most outstanding white wines.
Alsace also has Catherine and Laurence, the Faller sisters of Domaine Weinbach.
It must be said that I have not met the Faller sisters. From all reports they are welcoming and generous. What I can tell you is that Domaine Weinbach has been in the Faller family's care for over 100 years and the wines are exemplary, no matter what level of vineyard they work with.
