Merlot

Description:

Merlot when standing alone, shows abundant evidence of the ripe, plummy fruit and soft, juicy structure. Plums sometimes veer direction of dried fruit; tannins can range from firm to pulpy.

Its pleasant, easy-drinking wine. Often considered the junior partner of Cabernet Sauvignon in Bordaux-style blends.

Food to enjoy with:

Team with unfussy, meaty grills and roasts. Great with bangers, mash, and onion gravy. Fruity merlot would be a pleasant match for a subtly spicy lamb rogan josh.
