Telmo Rodriguez - Wines of Spain
Telmo Rodriguez is one of Spain's most celebrated winemakers. From its
beginning in 1994, the aim of the company has been to use native Spanish
varieties. This philosophy originally differed from the ongoing interest in
planting of foreign varieties, pretty much in every Spanish region. Another
initiative, is the recovery of abandoned or forgotten vineyards. This is how
the projects in Malaga, with Molino Real, and in Cebreros , with Pegaso,
emerged.
As well as looking after the wines at family property 'Remelluri' (in Rioja), Rodriguez is making a wide range of wines from all over Spain under his own name. Spain offers a wealth of climates and soils and can offer many styles to a winemaker with dedication and imagination.
Wines produced in Navarra, Rueda, Alicante, Toro, Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Valdeorras and Cigales allowed the partners to study the Tempranillo, Tinto fino, Tinta de toro, Garnacha, Monastrell, Mencia, Verdejo, Viura and Godello grape varieties in depth.
These regions make tremendously appealing wines: they are modern, but still show regional typicity, they are beautifully packaged. The aim was to reflect a sense of place based most of all on good viticulture and outstanding growers.
