Tony Bish - Finalist, Gourmet Traveller NZ Winemaker of the
Very limited availability in magnum format
Tony Bish is an icon of the New Zealand wine industry. Back in
1986, Bish co-founded the Sacred Hill winery in Hawke's Bay while
studying his oenology degree by correspondence.
As winemaker at Sacred Hill, he guided it to the status of Hawke's Bay
superstar. His nomination by Gourmet Traveller New Zealand magazine
as Winemaker of Year i2018 was affirmation of his status and track
Bish was instrumental in the development of Sacred Hill Rifleman's
Chardonnay, now considered to be one of the best Chardonnays made
anywhere in the new world.
After three decades in the game, Bish started Tony Bish Wines, focusing
exclusively on Chardonnay, drawing on Hawke's Bay fruit.
Singlehandedly, Bish 'raised the bar' for New Zealand Chardonnay.
Of the exceptional wines in the Tony Bish portfolio, we have a particular
soft spot for the Golden Egg Chardonnay. Fermented in two concrete
eggs, supplemented by intelligent use of oak, it successfully bridges the
divide between white Burgundy and new world Chardonnay.
Bish Golden Egg Chardonnay 2016 is a high class wine that displays
tremendous depth of flavour, poise and complexity. It ranks
alongside Giaconda and Kistler as one of the most compelling examples of
Chardonnay from the new world.
As a small volume wine, quantities are extremely limited. There are
just 15 six-packs available. Do not miss the chance to grab a box
or two of one of the best Chardonnays to hit these shores in recent
