This wine is young and fresh, while at the same time, brooding, structured and complex. Currants, both red and black are there at the outset, together with allspice, dark chocolate and a spiced perfume. The medium weight palate is framed by the fine, chalky tannins, which linger and define. It opens to black olive, blackcurrant and black strap molasses, with the powdery tannins and natural acidity drawing the wine to a persistent finish.

"Ugh, it's utterly gorgeous. True to intent the wine drinks beautifully right now. Succulent, supple, dark fruited, gently spicy, distinct alpine herbal influences, white pepper, gentle clove and sandalwood notes, anise, truffle and field mushroom characters in the mix. An imprint of amazing fruit is writ large. Tannins wrap and roll through the wine, light, sandy but puckering and gently firming right through to a lengthy, minerally series of chomps that follow on from each sip. A freshness here too. Impact and yet grace and evenness. Regal, you could say, but that's esoteric in a way; it's just damn brilliant to get stuck into."
