Thierry Mothe took over the running of the family domaine in 1998. Since taking over the reins, Mothe has clearly done a few things right.

Clive Coates MW, author of 'The Wines of Burgundy' and one of the world's foremost Burgundy experts doesn't mince his words, proclaiming it as the best estate in the village of Fontenay-Pres-Chablis.

Domain Thierry Mothe Chablis is Chablis as it should be - taut, serious, mineral and thought provoking. It's not the sort of wine you might mistake for modern, lean Australian Chardonnay.

In recent years, Chablis has been in short supply, and prices have headed northward. As wine merchants, we are more conscious than ever of the need to over-deliver in the value for money stakes. In this respect, Thierry Mothe Chablis 2016 hits the bullseye.

At the offer price, you pay just $42 per bottle, a saving of over 15% compared to the standard shelf price. That's a keen price for a thoroughbred Chablis.

(Shelf price - $50 per bottle  Offer price - $42 per bottle in a straight six-pack)
Youthful silvery yellow in appearance. Prototypical Chablis nose of grapefruit pith, lemon citrus, green apple, wet stone and crushed oyster shells. Bone dry, limpid, fresh, lively and vibrant. The nose flows through to the palate. Deliciously 'crunchy' and fresh with an attractive saline edge.  Time to start shuckin' those oysters!
