44 year old vineyard situated at 430 metres elevation in the Flaxman Valley sub-region.  1000 Shiraz.

The fruit was hand harvested and destemmed with 20% whole cluster inclusion. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in a small open top fermenter, and macerated for 14 days prior to pressing. Elevage was undertaken in French oak demi-muids and barriques, 20% new, and on lees for 24 months prior to bottling. The wine was naturally clarified and bottled without fining or filtration.

Mid-crimson in appearance.  Alluring bouquet of blue and black fruits, notes of lavender, cracked black pepper and a twist of exotic spice.  At the fulled end of medium bodied, soft and juicy on entry, with notes of blueberry, blackberry, liquorice/star anise.  Goes savoury on the mid-palate with fine, sandy tannins carrying the finish.  Long, supple and dangerously drinkable.  Another great premium release under the Garde label.
