Rill House 'My Deer Bride' Chardonnay 2022 (6 x 750ml)
From 650m elevation vineyard originally planted in 1986. 100% barrel
fermented and matured in a combination of new and used barrels for 12
months. 12.6% ABV.
Bright lemon yellow in appearance. Immensely appealing nose of toasted almond meal, brioche, baked apple, beurre bosc pear, white nectarine and a hint of grapefruit. Medium bodied, soft and round in texture with good underlying acidity lending balance and freshness. Myriad of orchard fruits interwoven with sophisticated nutty/spice barrel-derived characters. Long and very fine. This is top notch Chardonnay by any measure. Delivers a lot of pleasure now but has the depth and structure to reward ageing for several years.
