Two Paddocks 'Picnic' Pinot Noir 2017 (6 x 750ml)

(RRP - $40 per bottle  Offer price - $33 per bottle in a straight six-pack  Save $42)
Blend of fruit from the Gibbston, Alexandra and Bannockburn sub-regions.  Hand harvested, 95% de-stemmed and given 5-7 days pre-fermentation cold maceration. After an indigenous ferment the wine is given another 5-7 days post ferment time on skins. Wine is then transferred to 1-4 year old French medium toast barriques for a 10 month maturation in predominantly older oak, before racking and bottling. Blackcurrant, mocha, char, spice and wild herb aromatics lead to an elegant textural wine. This wine has great poise, tension and drive.
Winery note

Bright garnet in appearance.  Immediately attractive nose of freshly tilled earth, autumn leaves, dark berry fruit and dried herbs.  Medium bodied, dry and savoury - rather adult and serious!  The earthy, undergrowth character flows through to the palate.  Rather impressive for a moderately priced Central Otago Pinot Noir.  Drinking well now, but definitely has the structure and depth of fruit to develop for at least 4-5 years.
