Wild Duck Creek Harlequin Picpoul 2024
Harlequin Picpoul Blanc is grown at our friends Missy and Hugh Jones'
vineyard just north of Colbinabbin in the north of the region. It is a
brand new wine for us with 2022 being the first vintage made. Picpoul Blanc
is a grape grown primarily on the Mediterranean coast in the south of
France. It is only relatively new to Australia and is perfectly suited to
our warm and sunny regions. Late ripening, it is a wine generally full of
delightfully zippy acid, citrus and stone fruit characters along with a
uniquely saline finish lending itself to being consumed with seafood.
Nose
Aromas of lime juice, honey and freshly cut flowers accompanied by a
wet slate type minerality.
Palate
The palate is juicy and fresh. Flavours of citrus and green apple
alongside the saline type minerality typical of this variety.
Cellaring potential
Drink now to 2027.
Pairing suggestion
Oysters, scallops, white fish and Ceasar salad
