Wild Duck Creek - cult Heathcote Shiraz
Wild Duck Creek is a producer of cult Heathcote Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is fair to say that the wines of Wild Duck Creek are idiosyncratic, rather like proprietor and vigneron David 'Duck' Anderson.
Although Wild Duck Creek pushes the limits of ripeness and alcohol levels, its wines are never heavy nor cumbersome. Indeed, they tend to be slightly fuller than medium bodied, and superbly balanced.
The success of Wild Duck Cree owes itself to meticulous vineyard management (currently transitioning to biodynamics), traditional vinification and long-term barrel ageing.
From Yellow Hammer Hill through to the flagship Springflat Shiraz, Wild Duck Creek produces full-flavoured wines that stand out from the crowd. In great years, tiny quantities of the much sought after 'Duck Muck' are made. 'Duck Muck' is literally the essence of Heathcote.
